Chichester Retires

Posted by bwana on March 12, 2007

As rumored, John Chichester today announced he will not run for reelection to the Virginia State Senate.

That sound you just heard was the cork popping off a bottle of champagne at VCAP.

An interesting year in the General Assembly just got a whole lot more interesting.

Most important, the retirement of Russ Potts and John Chichester reigns in the GOP budget outlyers (sp?) in the Senate, and will put the onus on the Democrats to actually put forth a transportation plan to convince Virginia voters to make the Democrats the majority party instead of relying on GOP infighting. It will force each party to take a position, and the voters can take their pick.

That can only be good for effective governance.
